Your email address, used to sign you in with a one-time link and to contact you about your submission.

Optional profile details you choose to give: display name and country.

The content you submit: your story, the lesson, the costs, and the optional country and age range attached to it.

Payment records: amount, currency, date and the payment reference from our payment provider. Card details never reach this site.

Technical logs kept by our hosting provider (IP address, browser, timestamps) for security and abuse prevention.

Analytics data, only if you consent to analytics cookies.

To run your account and publish what you submit — necessary to perform our agreement with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

To take the €5 publishing payment and keep accounting records — contract and legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR).

To moderate submissions and keep the archive safe and lawful — legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

To translate published stories automatically so they can be read in other languages — legitimate interest, and part of what you agree to when publishing.

To measure how the site is used — only with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time.

Once your mistake is published, its title, story, lesson, costs, category, tags and the optional country and age range are public and readable by anyone, including search engines and AI crawlers.

Your name is only shown if you choose 'first name' or 'full name' when submitting. The default is anonymous.

Your email address is never published.

Account and profile data: while your account exists, then deleted when you delete your account.

Published mistakes: kept indefinitely as part of the public archive. If you delete your account, they are anonymised and permanently detached from you.

Unpublished drafts and submissions awaiting payment: deleted with your account, or after 12 months of inactivity.

Payment records: kept for the period required by tax and accounting law.

Technical logs: kept for a short period by our hosting provider, typically no more than 90 days.

We use a small number of service providers to run the site. They act on our instructions and are listed on the subprocessors page.

Some of them process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

You can access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your data, withdraw consent at any time, and request a portable copy.

Two of these work with one click while you are signed in: 'Download my data' and 'Delete my account', both in your profile.

Submissions are analysed by an AI model to suggest a category, a headline and tags, and to flag content that may need human review. Suggestions are always yours to accept or ignore, and a human decides on anything flagged.

Published stories are translated automatically by an AI model into the languages the site supports. Translations are machine-generated and the original text is always available.

No decision with legal or similarly significant effects is taken about you by automated means alone.

Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in a managed database with access rules that restrict each account to its own records. Access to production systems is limited to the site owner.

This site is not intended for people under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a minor has submitted something, contact us and we will remove it.
